I saw these really interesting bow ties made out of Legos at this vending booth at Afropunk so you know I had to interview the owner and find out about them. The name of the company is called Wonder Lee 123 Designs Inc and below is a little background on what Wonder Lee is all about.
Wonder Lee is a self-taught green assemblage artist, poet, and teacher based in New York City’s borough of The Bronx. Her artistic philosophy focuses on using found and donated objects. An extraordinary re-imagining and unique vision allow her to create eclectic, retro-inspired mixed media works with an urban flavor, comprised of ‘45s, cassettes, cassette covers, turntables, doors, glass, plastics, frames, metal, and just about any treasure – formerly known as someone else’s trash – that she can get her hands on! Wonder Lee teaches a mixed media art workshop at The Children’s Aid Society’s Next Generation Center in the Bronx and her work has reached the cells of Rikers Island for Voices Unbroken, where she became a teaching artist and helped to facilitate poetry workshops with teenage inmates. Wonder Lee is also an Executive Board member of the NYC LGBTQS Chamber of Commerce, helping to empower our youth, our community, and small minority owned businesses.~Wonder Lee
