Now you know I’ve been saying all year that 2013 is the year of conscious/socially aware HipHop and it certainly has been. Well The White Mandingos just turned it up a notch by resurrecting Revolutionary Rap with their new single “Mandingo Rally”. This is a deep song that aggressively addresses the negative things in HipHop and entertainment that are “Tainting” and Polluting the mentality of the black youth…(and the not so youthful). Murs really put that pen to the pad on this joint 4sho and the beat produced by Ingrid Campos fits the energy, craziness and madness of the issues that Murs is touching on perfectly. This joint has that Rage Against The Machine, Public Enemy feel to it especially with that vocal sample loop of Bad Brains reggae joint “Rally ‘Round Jah Throne in the beat, I can definitely hear Chuck Dee or Zack de la Rocha spitting some politically charged bars over this beat!
Peep the description of The White Mandingos and the Mandingo Rally below!
Here’s the video for “Mandingo Rally” from the White Mandingos, the band had this to say:
“‘Mandingo Rally’ is a sonic rally organized by The White Mandingos (AKA Murs, Darryl Jenifer and Sacha Jenkins SHR). Inside of this rally, Cali rap killer Murs (AKA Tyrone White) drops Jewels for you to find. But once you find them, he snatches them right back. Because you have to earn these jewels. Murs rocks like a flamethrower atop a beat sicker than Leather Face. Breezy, Weezy, Jeezy, Cheezy–all of y’all best protect ya neck.”
