If you don’t already know, HipHop super producer Swizz Beatz is an avid collector of vintage BMX bikes from the 80’s. And in this promo video for his up coming NO COMMISSION art fair with Bacardi he and A$AP Rocky take a tour of the Bronx on two of his bikes.
Swizzy was riding around on a classic blue GT Performer with with mostly orange parts and of course orange Skyway Tuff Wheels. A$AP Rocky was rolling on the classic chrome/green Haro master with the bash built into the frame and green Skyway Tuff Wheels. Swizz’s refurbished bikes always look dialed and it was cool to see him actually riding them around. Most collectors build their vintage bikes up and never let them touch the ground let alone ride them.
As the two HipHop artist Pass through the BX they stop by the birthplace of HipHop 1520 Sedgwick Ave. They talk about the rich history of HipHop and the legends that came out of the bronx and 1520 Sedgwick. They also talk about how the world takes so much from the HipHop community but rarely ever gives back. The NO COMMISSION art Fair is one of those event that will be giving back to the community.
Unfortunately you wont be seeing Swizz or Rocky pulling any wheelies or tricks on those fresh bikes but hopefully we can get them on Sugar Cayne to see what they got. 😉
About NO COMMISSION:
No Commission is a contemporary art fair curated by The Dean Collection to forge a direct link between artists’ practices and art patronage. No Commission is a platform that is designed specifically to support artists. All artists are given their exhibition space for free and 100% of the sale of each artwork goes directly back to the artists.
No Commission Art Performs is a series of artist support collaborations between BACARDÍ and The Dean Collection. The first edition of No Commission coincided with Art Basel Miami in 2015, where over $1 million in art were sold during the fair.
The No Commission experience is brought to life through a partnership between BACARDÍ, Swizz Beatz, and The Dean Collection in their continued support of cultural visionaries around the world.
BMX-HipHop-ART…Humm what a novel idea! 😉
