Great Britain’s Kye Whyte claimed his first-ever BMX world cup title with an awesome performance in front of his home crowd at round 2 of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in Manchester. He can now add that win to his 9x British Champ, 6x National Champ, titles.
A few weeks before his win, a video called “From Peckham To Podium” was released on Youtube. The video featured Kye Whyte, who is training for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in the hopes of becoming a member of Team GB. Kye was born and raised in Peckham and at the age of six he started BMXing. Today Kye is able to train full time thanks to the funding from a program called UK called the National Lottery.
From “Peckam To Podium” is part of a series of videos to celebrate the 25th birthday of the National Lottery and raise awareness of the £30 million a week of National Lottery money that goes to Good Causes, among their target audience of 18-34 year olds.
Kye is off to a great start in the Supercross series. He literally went from Peckam to podium in Manchester. 😉 We can’t wait to see how he does at the other stops on the tour.
