Gate 8 Introduces Their KW01 BMX Race Frame

High end BMX component company Gate just put out a press release introducing their first ever BMX racing frame, the KW01. They only released a few teaser photos of the frames but you really con’t make out exactly what they look like. They did however go into some detail on the features of the frames in the press release. Plus they’re looking for some test pilots!

The #KW01 has been over a year in development and has been designed in partnership with the 2019 Gate 8 race team. Based on race proven geometry, the custom hydroformed 6061 Aluminium race frame uses a unique dropout system with universal compatibility for 10mm, 15mm and 20mm hub sets. It supports bolt though hubs as standard and includes an integrated chain tensioner.

For maximum compatibility the #KW01 ships with v-brake mounts as standard, but the frame design has been optimised for use with disc brakes. A specifically designed disc brake mount* integrates with the #KW01 drop out system whilst under seat stay cable guides, direct hydraulic brake housing to the disc brake at the optimum angle.

A flared seat tube and BB30 bottom bracket shell are used to allow riders to run larger axles for optimum power transfer. In keeping with the theme of universal compatibility axle diameters of 24, 30 and 35mm** are supported.

Designed alongside the frame and landing in 2020 are the Gate 8 Carbon WRX forks which taper from 1-1/8 to 1.5” on the Pro frames. Unique to the #KW01 Mini, Junior and Expert frames these taper from 1” to 1-1/8th” allowing us to run a one piece carbon steerer construction that saves 20% the weight of other leading carbon forks whilst maintaining compatibility with 1” stems. Both Pro and Junior forks support 20mm hubs but are supplied with adaptors for legacy 10mm hubs. The taper of both Pro and Junior WRX forks perfectly match the taper of the head tube for sleekest lines.

The Gate 8 #KW01 will be available in Mini, Junior, Expert, Pro, ProXL, ProXXL and ProXXXL and Junior and Pro Cruiser.
