Na-Kel Smith linked up with Adidas to rework the Rivalry Hi. The rapper/actor/skater took the classic 80’s basketball kicks and added street style vibes. The adidas Skateboarding team member has done a few collaborative footwear pieces but this is his first strictly casual kicks.
Smith hooked up the uppers in a mix of black leathers and suede’s. This is a departure from the Rivalry’s standard all-leather construction and it looks fresh. Gold is the offset color of choice and it really pops out on the three stripes, laces, heel stamp and tongue’s border. Dark forest green is used on the ridged shank around the collar.
All the colors are brought together on the tongue badge logo. The standard “Rivalry” graphic id replaced by a “Na-Kel” logo. On the mid-sole black rubber is used while the outsole features more of that gold. These kicks look fresh and they match the color of the Sugar Cayne frame. I may have to get a pair for racing 😉
The Na-Kel Smith x adidas Originals Rivalry Hi will be available on the adidas webstore come January 18, for $110 USD.
