Here is my 1984 Blue Max. I grew up with a kid in my Dad’s neighborhood that had one and I always wanted one. Since they only sold them in Military Base exchange stores you couldn’t just go buy one. This is my tribute to the coolest bike I remember as a kid.

FUN FACT:
Blue Max (1980–1985) was a private label brand (owned by Mongoose) made to market outside the independent bicycle dealer network. They were sold to the US Army and Air force exchange stores worldwide, wherever there were US military bases. They also sold them to some mass merchants in large volume.
~Skip Hess/Founder Mongoose
The early frames featured an iron cross gusset. In the later years the gussett was removed which lead it to look exactly like the Mongoose California. In the early ’80’s several top riders, among others Brian Gass (USA), were on the BLUE MAX BMX race team. The only rider known to have a factory ride with BLUE MAX in Europe, was Nico Does.
