Bike Of The Day: Mark’s 2000 UFO 24″ Pro Cruiser

ufo bmx cruiser

Today’s Bike Of The Day is a 2000 UFO Bikes 24″ Pro Cruiser ridden by Mark Small. This rare BMX bike has a unique look. It features an extra, square tubing between the down tube and seat stay. It also has cool old school style gusset on the front end. I like the MX style forks and bars on this build. Be sure to give this bike a rating via the sliders below. Also if you have any more details on the UFO Bikes brand please leave them in the comments section. I couldn’t find much information about the brand online.

The inspiration for the build is old school bike ride like sh** and are no good for modern day BMX tracks. So to enjoy riding an old school bike was not an option. Mid school is the only way to go as old school bikes are commanding silly prices. So I set out to find a cool mid school racing machine, UFO was the only way to go

The search took 3 years to find one for sale and prices then were low compared to today prices so I payed more in postage and import duty than the frame. Looking for parts took another 2 year’s and making my own repop decals off images from the only advert for UFO I could find.

This UFO is slightly different to most as the down tube is solid not a twin bar like most. This is probably why it has survived. It’s a bit stronger than the other design. What I have managed to find out is the first batch of UFOs were not heat treated properly so most of them have gone.

UFO did manage a racing team for a few years and managed to get a redline racer to ride for them I can’t remember the mame. UFO did I few freestyle frames but I have only ever seen pics of a frame.

The bike rides fast and smooth and is more than a match to modern racers, shame the rider has no skills.

~Mark Small
