You probably know that Chip Foose is a automobile designer, artist, and star of the TV series Overhaulin’, but did you know he was a BMXer? Back in April Chip talked about his awesome vintage bicycle collection on the Foose Design Youtube channel. He talked about his 1906 Columbia-Pope Chainless, 1936 Elgin Bluebird, 1956 Schwinn Black Phantom 1972 and Schwinn Orange Krate. But it was his 1978/79 Redline Proline that meant the most to him.
Back when Chip 16, he was into BMX racing and freestyle. The Redline Proline was his bike of choice. In the video Chip talks about how he use to race, freestyle and ride his bike to work and scchool. He also talks about how he used a road bike quick release to raise his seat up and down depending on what he was doing on his bike. His original Proline was stolen but he was able to get another frame from his friend and totally restore the bike to replicate the one he had as a kid.
Chip was nice on the BMX bike back in the day to. They showed a few images of him catching some nice air. I had to grab them an post em on here.
After watching this video I started thinking, what if we can get Foose Designs to sponsor a BMX team? That would be sick!! “Foose Desgins BMX”…..I like the sound of that!
