The folks at Commencal have decided to step into the BMX racing game with their 4X Pro Sylvain Andre! Commencal picked up the Olympic BMX Racing pro back in 2021 to race 4X, a sport that is basically BMX racing with 4 riders instead of 8 and strictly on 26″ “dirt jumpers”. Sylvain was sponsored by Wiawis for BMX racing during that time and actually came in 4th at the Tokyo Olympic Games. In a cool turn of events Sylvain will now be getting support from Commencal for both 4X and BMX Racing! And Commecal will be making BMX racing frames or maybe even completes.
Press Release:
The opportunity was too good!
“Before meeting Sylvain, there had never been any question of returning to BMX, but within a few days everything had changed. We chatted, shared our stories, and decided it was on, let’s go! It’s not complicated, it’s just real life. One where nothing is ever set in stone, where our job is to dream and make people dream.”

When we offered Sylvain the chance to race the 4X World Championships in Val di Sole in 2021 on a COMMENCAL, his excitement and motivation showed his great personality and drive. And looking back, this wasn’t just a coincidence!
How do we say no to such an opportunity? To make a bond between Sylvain and COMMENCAL.
This project is motivated by what has always driven us, and that is the quest for performance and victories. In fact, there are two key points of reason for this new partnership… The first is to give Sylvain the necessary support and the second is the introduction of COMMENCAL to this Olympic sport!Through this project, we also want to participate in the evolution of BMX, but whilst also remaining faithful to our main objectives; the use of aluminium and respect for the environment.
