World renown MTB brand Commencal just dropped a teaser video of it’s new P038 BMX racing prototype bike and it looks sick!! The video features two of professional BMX racing’s top riders; Laura Smulders and Sylvain Andre killing the track! I’ve been waiting to see what a painted production model would look like and I’m loving it! I’m also loving this edit! We need more BMX racing edits like this one. Shout out to Leon Perrin for filming and editing this masterpiece
About the Commencal P038:
The COMMENCAL BMX P038 is a true pro level platform. The frame is design to perform at the World Cup level. Two piece forged bottom bracket is machined and welded together, when the 74degree head tube is also forged and offers internal brake sheath routing which exits on the left side of the chainstay.
The state-of-the-art dropouts are machined and offers an option of the wheel position change. Thanks to the dropout integrated FlipFlop the chainstay length (392mm in mid position) might be adjusted by 8mm in total. (-4mm, 0, +4mm). To make things user-friendly the flatmount brake adapter position is indexed to the FlipFlop position making the brake set up extremely precise.
The BMX PROJECT began at the start of 2022 when we signed Sylvain Andre with one goal: to create our version of a race BMX. But we didn’t have a frame, just our foundational know-how in designing aluminium bikes for racing. So, we used Meybo’s aluminium frames repainted in our colours so we could learn. As the BMX PROJECT grew, we welcomed Laura Smulders at the start of 2023 to further help design and test our race BMX.
Our first prototype race BMX is now officially ready to compete at the World Cups, and the verry first exam will be held this weekend in Papendal during 4th round of 2023 UCI BMX Racing World Cup. This is also our main goal for this season- to gather further information in the most demanding racing conditions during World Cup events to improve the bike further. The cherry on the cake of BMX Project would be 2024 Olympic medal won in Paris..
