A good friend of mine and Long Island BMX Legend John “Supes” Skvarla recently installed a brand new automatic screen printing machine at his shop! That’s a serious upgrade from screen printing by hand. I’m so excited for Supes and his upgrade it’s been a long time coming! Now it’s time to for me to get some new tees made by my dude!
I bought a Spaceship! Just Kidding! This is a 10-Shirt Station, 8-Color Automatic Press with 2 FlashDryers. This has been by far the hardest project I’ve taken on in my life, I’ve been working on this for a long time now! I have been manually printing (pulling the squeegee by hand) for over 30 years, and it has taken a toll on my body, specifically my elbows, the tendons are torn up and hurt almost constantly, so I recently came to a crossroads where I was either going to have to get out of the Screen Printing business and do something else for a living, or go all in with an Automatic Press. So all in is what it was! I spent the last few years grinding away working harder than ever to save up the funds to be able to buy this machine, I wanted to buy it out right and own it 100%, and not finance it and pay interest along with paying for everything else that goes along with making it run, new upgraded electrical lines, a rotary screw air compressor, air dryer/chiller, the task of getting it up to the 3rd floor, and completely re-building my shop from the ground up. For a long time, it seemed having an automatic screen printing press in this business was a dream and a far off goal, but it seemed almost unattainable, until it wasn’t. When I finally pulled the trigger and put the order in for M&R to build the machine, the hard work was only about to begin, there were so many hoops to jump through and hurdles to get over, lots of moving pieces that all had to go right and some uncertainties as to whether all this could even work in my space and to get this all up and running. I’ll save all those many details for another time and let this video show the extent of the project! But I am up and running jobs on this press already and it’s Amazing! I feel like I’ve gone 12 rounds of Rocky Balboa to get here (Hence the song), it was 2 and 1/2 months from the date of purchase until installation was completed. It is a relief to have it all done and working, and now I can use this machine for the next 25 years or so! I need jobs! Spread the word, so I can keep this thing spinning!!! Thanks for reading my story
