Pro Mountain Biker and Global Mountain Bike Network team rider Blake Samson is doing a series where he’ll be trying out BMX racing for the first time on GMBN Youtube channel. In this video Blake was just practicing to get a feel for riding 20in BMX racing bike. He talked about how BMX racing works and the transfer system they use overseas which is the world standard Total Points system…….Hint Hint U.S.A. 😉
Blake’s years of experience in professional mountain biking gives him a big advantange over some one just starting out in BMX racing but it’s far from a walk in the park. After a few laps Blake was looking fast on the track but his gate starts were terrible lol. I’d don’t think it’ll take him that long to get really good at BMX racing. I can’t wait to see the next episode when he competes in a race. I think he should race expert class for sure. He’ll probably smoke any intermediate BMX racer. It’ll be cool if he does a whole season of racing. And like other have said on Youtube, it’s would be cool to see the whole GMBN riders compete against eash other in a BMX race.
BMX racing, how hard could it be?.. Surely it’s not that different to mountain biking. However, it’s been a while since Blake has raced on wheels this small, so before the big event he heads to the pump track to get some practice in. Blake Samson gets some much-needed coaching from former British BMX champion John Twitchen. But you’ll have to wait until next week to see if any of his training pays off!
