swerve movie screening

Multi talented B-Boy, producer, emcee, actor and BMXer, Raphael Xavier will be screening his short film “Swerve-Eli” on April 20th. It’s a film based around the Bike Life movement. I can’t wait to check it out!

Press Release:

Writer-Director Raphael Xavier to Screen Short Film “Swerve·Eli ” at Annenberg Center’s Harold Prince Theatre on Saturday, April 20th, 2024
Philadelphia, PA – Acclaimed performing artist, writer-director Raphael Xavier is set to screen
his latest short film, “Swerve·Eli,” at the Annenberg Center’s Harold Prince Theatre on Saturday,
April 20th, 2024. The film, written during the pandemic lockdown, is based on a true story of an
encounter with a young BMX rider named Eli.
“Swerve·Eli” promises to captivate audiences with its compelling narrative inspired by real-life
events. Xavier’s unique storytelling approach and cinematic vision are expected to leave a lasting
impression on viewers.
Working closely with a community of big bike BMX riders in Philadelphia and some as far as
California, Xavier is giving these young riders a moment to shine.
Xavier says the word “swerve” has gotten a bad reputation, as have many BMXers. “Hopefully
this will give them some positive attention, something to be proud about.”
