Adidas jumps into the cycling world with the launch of the Velostan Smith, The iconic brand took their classic Stan Smith sneakers and installed SPD pedal compatibility to them. They retain the classic white and green design while integrating features tailored for cyclists.
Other features on the kicks are a shortened midsole with a reinforced plate for efficient power transfer. It also includes an elastic lace bungee to keep laces secure and away from the chain and other parts of the bike. Velostans are also constructed in part with recycled materials like the upper which features 50% recycled content.
But best of all, the Velostans can also be used as regular sneakers!! No need to worry about twisting your ankles and sounding like you have on high heel shoes like you do with regular SPDs. Kicks like these makes a flat pedal pusher like myself a little interested in trying to ride clipped in.
