Super7 and ReAction dropped another KRS ONE action figure! This time they got their inspiration from the 1988 Hip Hop classic “Self Destruction” music video! Self Destruction was the only single released by the Stop The Violence Movement. There was a who’s, who of legendary NY HipHop artist featured on that song. Artist like Public Enemy, MC Lyte, Miss Melodie, D-Nice, Heavy D, Doug E Fresh, Kool Moe Dee, Stetsasonic and of course KRS ONE. It was one of the most important song of that era and it still rings true today. Maybe even now more than ever. The song debuted at No. 1 on the first week of Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs existence and held the spot for ten consecutive weeks. The legendary single raised over $100,000 that was donated to the National Urban League.
This particular figure is not just a toy. It’s a collectible commemoration to an important moment in Hip Hop culture. A moment that brought some of the hottest emcees of different styles and backgrounds together in an effort to Stop The Violence in the community. It was the first of its kind, mega collaboration in HipHop that sent a loud and clear message to stop the violence. And that message is still very much needed but in a way broader sense these days.
Troubled by the apparent rise of violence in the hip-hop community, KRS-One founded the Stop the Violence Movement in an effort to rally fellow artists to the cause and spread awareness about the growing problem. The latest 3.75” scale, articulated KRS-One ReAction Figure is inspired by his appearance in the 1988 “Self Destruction” music video and features the emcee in a black and white BDP hat and jacket with geometric pattern, and includes a Stop the Violence Movement book accessory. ~Super7/ReAction
