2024 was a great year for the Bike Of The Day series with a lot of nice features. As you know Bike Of The Day is where it all starts. then it goes to Bike Of The Month and now its time to talk about Bike Of The Year. I also like to give props to the year’s top bikes in some other categories like, 24in, DJ, unique and others. So without further a-due I’m gonna get into this list for the  Best Of – Bike Of The Day 2024!

DJ Of The Year: John Capps Airborne Skyhawk Custom Art

Airborne Skyhawk Dirt Jump

The 2018 red and grey Airbourn Skyhawk with the custom artwork on it that stole the show when it came to Dirt Jumpers! The artwork details on it were amazing and there was a lot to look at Big Congrats to Jon Capps on this amazing build!!

Most Unique: Mike’s WH Bradford Mono Shocker

WH-Bradford Mono Shocker BMX

There were a few unique bikes featured last year on Bike Of The Day but The Yamaha inspired WH-Bradford Mono Shocker knocked it out the park with the Uniqueness. The custom, one off frame design, custom Bottema style forks and the Mono shock all made this bike the winner. Huge congrats to Mike for Winning Most Unique Bike Of The Year. definitely deserved it with that bike.

Vintage Bike Of The Year: Tim’s 1981 Mongoose Team

1981 Mongoose Team BMX Bike

The1981 Mongoose Team sent in by Tim Hoeckele was fire with that candy green colorway! I gotta give a big shout out to Tim for keeping Bike Of The Day spicy with that sick vintage build.  We definitely need to see more flatland bikes this year!

24in Of The Year: Jon’s 2022 Jayhawk Purple

Jayhawk 24in BMX Bike

There were several nice 24in cruisers featured on Bike Of The Day in 2024 but none came close to that purple 2022 Jayhawk cruiser in purple! I rarely see those crazy Jayhawk frame in any color but raw aluminum. But that purple colorway took this bike to the next level! Big shout out to Jon Dyer for submitting this one.

26in BMX Of The Year: John’s 2021 Redline Squareback

Redline 2021

So That white 2021 Redline Squareback was hands down the 26in BMX bike Of The Year. The bike featured some great and hella expensive parts on there. John put together a really nice bike and congrats to him on winning 26in BMX Bike Of The Year.

29in Of The Year: John D’s Gary Turner 29in

Gary Turner Legend 29in BMX bike Black

The Gary Turner Legend 29ner submitted by John DeVecchio had that extra sweet sauce! It had those luxury, baller style parts on it which made it look FIRE!! All that flavor and then some made this bike win 29in Of The Year. Big up to Johnny D for submitting this one!

Flatland Bike Of The Year: Waki’s 2011 Ares Garuda

2011 Ares Garuda bmx flatland

There was no flatland BMX bike touching this 2011 Ares Garuda! That blue and white colorway just looked too good with those white wall tires. It was just a well put together bike with style for days! Big shout out and congrats to Waki  Ng for this amazing build.

OS20 OF The Year: Cameron’s 2022 I Am Cook 20in

2022 I Am Cook OS20 BMX Bike

That 2022 I AM Cook OS20 in transparent raspberry looked amazing! It really stood out from the rest of the OS20’s with it’s unique features. This bike also feature the unique I Am Cook enclosed 20mm forks. All that and then some are what make this the OS20 Of The Year. Big shout out to Cameron Margeson for submitting this one!

Carbon Bike Of The Year: Joan’s 2024 Josh Ultimate carbon

Josh Ultimate Carbon bmx racing bike

The new kid on the block, Josh BMX, submitted their Ultimate carbon bike which has some interesting features. The most notable feature is it’s flip chip headset design that offers two-position of geometry adjustment, giving you a shorter or longer top tube length. It also has the flip chip dropouts just like the amazing Supercross Vision F1 who was the first to use that tech on a BMX frame. There was also the prototype Commencal BMX racing frame that had it too. But the headset thing is something real different and for that The 2024 Josh Ultimate carbon won Carbon Bike Of The Year. Big shout out and congrats to Joan Verstegen of Josh BMX on his the win.

Detailer Of The Year Award: Marcus’s 2016 Skyway T/A

2016 Skyway TA 26in BMX cruiser

I don’t think there wasn’t any other bike that represented the attention to detail the way the 2016 Skyway T/A did. It was submitted by Marcus Ripley and he had the color coordination and balance on point! You can tell he really though about what parts were gonna be what color. Marcus even had Skyway branded valve caps, vans sneaker brake pads on the front, Skyway seat, Skyway Pads and seat post clamp. He even had a Skyway bike stand and of course a fresh set of Skyway pads to complete the look! For this awesome build, Marcus Ripley is the 2024 SugarCayne.com Detailer Of the Year!

Member Of The Year: Brian Compton

I wanna give props to everybody who became a member of SugarCayne.com in 2024. I love that people are signing up, getting active on the site and hooking up their profile pages. I wanted to add a feature to reward my members for engaging with the site so I added a point system to it. So all throughout out 2024 members on the site accumulated point for just about everything they did on the site.

As they gained points they unlocked achievements like badges and Rank levels and I even added a Member Leader board on there. So in addition to all the best of Bike Of The The Year for 2024 categories, I’ve also added the 2024 SugarCayne.com Member Of The Year. And That Member is Brian Compton!! Big big congrats to Brian on this win!!

MOST LIKED BIKE: Josh’s 2024 Supercross SX 250 35th Anniversary Prototype

Supercross SX250 Prototype

Another new feature I added to the site is the “Most Upvoted” AKA Most Liked filter. When you go to the Bike Of The Day page you can select the Most Upvoted option in the dropdown list which sorts the post to show the articles with the most likes in descending order. And the Most Liked Bike for 2024 is the 2024 Supercross SX 250 35th Anniversary prototype submitted by Josh Camel Joe Randall. Big Congrats to Josh on his win for getting all those likes!

MOST COMMENTED BIKE: Al’s 2018 Sugar Cayne Newbridge Pro XXL

Sugar Cayne Newbridge BMX Bike

There’s also an option on the dropdown where you can select Most Discussed aka Most Comments. And it just so happens that my personal bike that I submitted last year was the most commented on bike for 2024, so shout out to me for the win! Ya’ll should’ve had more people comment on you bikes! LOL!

EDITOR’s PICK: Richard’s Daylight Wavelength 2.0 Hand Engraved

2024 Daylight Wavelength BMX Racing Bike

Every once in a while there’s a bike that’s so fire that I think really deserves to be Bike Of The Year. But visitors to the site may give a different bike the top rating. So I have a special Bike Of The Year Editors pick award and this year’s award goes to The Hand Engraved 2024 Daylight Wavelength 2.0!! This bike was hands down my favorite bike of the year. The Hand Engraving and polish work on this bike was undeniable! Big shout out and congrats to Richard Huvard of Daylight Bicycles on this amazing bike and this amazing brand!

BIKE OF THE YEAR

I Am Cook BMX bike

The 2024 Sugar Cayne.com Bike Of The Year based off the user ratings is the 2024 I AM Cook 24in BMX cruiser! IT was sent in by Paul “Cracker” Graham and it looks sick!!! This awesome bike was sitting in the number one spot for most of the year! Until the last couple months of 2024 where it got knocked out the top spot by a few bikes like the Supercross SX bikes, Brian Compton’s PK Ripper and few others. But the people rallied hard with the ratings and brought Crackers bike back to the top where it stayed till the end of the year! Big shout out and congrats to Cracker for building up a great bike. Also big shout out and congrats to I AM Cook for not only making some awesome frame and forks but for also dominating the Bike Of The Year charts with so many bikes in the top 10.

Thar’s it for this year! Let me know which bikes were your favorites and if you think a different bike from 2024 should have won one of the categories.

And Keep submitting those bikes –>>>> SUBMIT
