Georgia based Hip Hop producer Thelonious Coltrane recently dropped an instrumental album called Cage Diaries. The first beat on the album is called “Dapper Dan Jaccet” and it’s one of my favorite joints.
I love the different sound used on it like that warp sound, haunting filtered vocals and the lofi ragtime style piano sample. The subliminal chimes are a nice added touch. All those audible treats are made complete with the hard, boom bap drums, hi had and thick base. You know a instrumental is good when you start tying to rap over it even though you can’t rap lol!!! This Is Hip Hop!
