After 23 years, Connor Fields, one of BMX racing greatest riders is now retired from professional racing. He broke the news late yesterday on his social media sites.
After much thought and consideration, it is time to officially announce my retirement from professional BMX racing. I’ll still be around, just not in the gate. It’s hard to put into words what the last 23 years have meant, so with the help of @defconmedia we put together this video. Thank you BMX.
~Connor Fields
Connor suffered a life threatening injury during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. He went down really hard going into the first turn. Connor had servere head truma and he’s lucky to be alive. Luckily he had a great recovery and is actually back on his bike which is awesome. But we kinda all knew he would probably retire after that.
Connor was amazing, fierece and hella fast on the track. He ends his carrer as being the only America male to bring home Olympic gold in BMX racing. Connor is also a 3 X Olympic finalist including his Olympic Gold, 2 World Cup series titles and 3 USABMX series titles! And If pro cruiser was still round he probably have titles for that too 😉
Connor said he’ll still be round which is awesome. Hopefully we’ll see him still riding and hitting the trails too. But we all know BMXers are like rappers…they retire for like a year and come right back LOL! Don’t be surprised if you see Connor riding vet pro in a year or two. And lets not forget, he can always race class if he takes a extended break 🙂
Huge shout out to Connor and I wish him the best on his future endeavors!! #SALUTE
