A 2024 Daylight Wavelength is today’s Bike Of The Day!! This one was submitted by Rod Edwards and he put this bike together real nice! You can’t go wrong with a read and white colorway on the looks department. I also like the was he balanced the color scheme with polished, black and brown parts. And you really can’t go wrong with a Daylight frame! I’m digging those new Wavelength frames.
Give this bike a rating for the March Bike Of The Month and 2024 Bike Of The Year Charts.
It’s not a new story. I started racing again in 2023 after forty years away. I fell in love with the sport again and even had some success in spite of racing injured all year.
After the season I have had both knees replaced. What do we do when we can’t ride? We build. What started off as a simple frame and fork upgrade turned into a complete build. So much for the budget.
After a lot of research and conversations with Richard and Jason from Daylight, I settled on the new Daylight Wavelength 2.0. The toughest decision after that was colorway. So many options. I changed my mind several times but eventually I settled on USMC Red, What else would a rider from the Cornhusker state pick?
I also wanted a clean, racy look. Look fast! How can you beat red, black, and gloss natural aluminum? I love the way the colors came together.
Once started, I decided to go all in. I race for Purple Heart Racing and we are sponsored by Box, so I have a lot of Box components. Quality components and the team over at Box is incredible to work with. The Box components compliment everything on the bike. I especially love the Box Hex Labs carbon hoops laced to the Onyx Ultra SS hubs. The whole bike rides like a dream and comes in right at 18 pounds, nearly 5.5 pounds lighter than the PK Ripper build I raced last year.
Building the new bike has been a lot of fun. I am still working to get back to 100% after the knee replacements but I already feel faster on my Daylight. I cannot wait to do damage on the track in 2024. No matter what, I am going to have a lot of fun hanging out with the BMX community. Let’s Go!
