A 2024 Supercross BMX, SX 250 35th Anniversary 6 bar Prototype bike is today’s Bike Of The Day! The chrome plated frame has a lot going on with the color scheme between the parts and graphics. I love that classic BMX race bike look with modern day geometry. And this bike has some fun finer details when you take a closer look at it. Bill Ryan of Supercross BMX gave me the 35th Anniversary 6 Bar Prototype Frame & hooked me up with some other rad Supercross BMX / Speedline Parts earlier in the year. He thought it would be cool to build up and showcase the frame at Dirtyfest 2 & felt i was the man for the job.
The first thing that came to mind (besides how lucky i am to have the best sponsor ever!) was to build it up with top notch iconic parts from the 3 1/2 decades Supercross BMX has been around as well as add some custom touches to it , tying in the old school , mid school & new school. Odyssey never made a Pozi Stop seatpost clamp for the Pitbull Brakes big enough to fit the “oversized” new school seatpost sizes. So , i made my own to ensure the 30+ year old Pitbulls could work as good as possible. The old VG seat guts don’t have the exact same radius as today’s pivotal seats. So i used a heat gun to get the Supercross Bmx E-Line Pivotal Saddle soft enough to conform to the old VG Seatgut & tightened the Speedline Parts Titanium Bolt until everything fit together nice & snug. Ive always wanted to make my own crank arms and loved the massive, very rare Herrington Trinity Cranks that were made around 30 years ago. Seeing as they are impossible to find… i talked Chad Herrington (@hasnotalent) himself & asked for his permission to make a similar set of arms. He said that would be awesome! So , i went ahead n made em. The only spindle simple enough for me to make crank arms for , is the old 22mm Pr1mo Powerbite style. But the Supercross Bmx Tiger Teeth Sprocket Bill gave me only has a 19mm hole. So then i made a custom jig so i could mount the sprocket and bore the hole out to 22mm. I then built the wheels from scratch n threw this beast together.
