I know this article is a few months old but I always go back and reread things and these shoes got me thinking. I haven’t worn a pair of Smiths in a good while but I know the sole is pretty stiff. Which (I think) would make for a good biking shoe right out the box and the perfect candidate for a clip less. Im just guessing here, but it makes sense to me that by removing some of that material in the sole and then reinforcing that area above the clip insert would change the feel of these sneakers very little if at all. Making them the perfect clip less sneakers (that weren’t originally clip less). I still like those adidas samba clip less more though hahaha.
